He is survived by his loving mother Veronica, his daughter Jennifer, granddaughter Ebeney, and sisters Ann Marie and Velda.
Left to mourn are his aunts Isabelle, Angela and Shirley; uncles Albert and Pat; cousins Monty, Andrea, Talbot, Junior, Sharon, Quincy, Lisa, Susie, Kay, Melba, Marlon, Tony, Angela, Clancy, Heflyn and Maudrina. Alex will be missed by his friend of 49 years, Roula, companion Rosa, numerous friends, extended family and colleagues from the Father Dowd Nursing home.
From the age of eighteen until his retirement in 2013, Alex worked at the Father Dowd Nursing Home as a cook. In his spare time, he was a popular DJ, playing in bars and clubs in the Montreal area. He loved to entertain and was best known for hosting epic barbeques at his home on Harvard Avenue. He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed following tennis and golf.
He spent his last years living the way he truly wanted: playing his records at home, throwing barbeques, playing his machines at Ma’s Bar (now known as Rustik), socializing at The Quebec Caribbean Cricketers Fraternity (popularly known as The Frat) with old and new friends, playing dominos. Alex often helped out in The Frat’s kitchen and bar and spent time perfecting his Caribbean-inspired Ponche de crème recipe.
A special thank you to Father Dowd Nursing Home for allowing Alex to help them when they needed him most and for taking care of him, when he needed them most. To all of the staff of Father Dowd Nursing Home, the family wishes to express their gratitude. THANK YOU!
