William Emmett Mitchell

“Bill” Mitchell was married to the love of his life, Ann Roberts Mitchell, for 60 years. He was born and

raised in Montgomery. He was twice retired, from the City of Montgomery and from the State of Alabama. His biggest honor was serving as a firefighter for the City of Montgomery. He retired as a Captain in 1985. He was a hard working and loving husband, father, and friend to all. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family but most especially, his 4 daughters, they were his pride and joy! He was a die hard Alabama football and basketball fan. He also enjoyed playing poker, camping, traveling to the mountains and watching the eagles sore and especially playing with his special fur baby, Bama Belle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Doris Mitchell, mother & father in law, Georgia & Kelvey Roberts, brother, James Pierce Mitchell, brother in law, Bobby Roberts, daughter, Deborah Mitchell Powell, and his nephew, Tim Mitchell.

He is survived by, his wife, Ann Roberts Mitchell. His daughters, Donna Mitchell Bate (Robert), Dena Mitchell Hamilton (Billy), and Dana Mitchell Abrams. His son-in-law, Terry Powell, and sister-in-law, Carol Mitchell. He also leaves behind 9 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. Trey Bate, Mitch Duncan, Lynnsey Robinson Bate (Isaac), Tyler Duncan, Hunter Abrams, Kendall Duncan, Chance Abrams, Kayla Mosley (Josh), Cody Powell, Riley Bate, and Gavin Robinson.

Honorary Pallbearers: Mitch Duncan, Tyler Duncan, Hunter Abrams, Chance Abrams, Ron McCalman and James Horn.

A visitation for William will be held Thursday, October 28, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL 36109, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM.
