TSgt William Franklin Hatcher, affectionately known as “Pop” passed away on December 24, 2015, following a brief battle with cancer. He was born on November 11, 1932, and was 83 years old at the time of his passing.
William enlisted in the Air Force and served over 20 years until his retirement in March 1973. He married his loving wife, Minako Hatcher, in 1956 and stayed by her side until her passing in 2002. He was preceded in death by his parents, Green Madison and Minnie Lee Hatcher and a brother, Gordon Madison Hatcher.
He is survived by his children, Betty Davis (Andy), Christy Ealum (Johnny), Linda Gartland (Jim) and Joyce Hodge (Lamar); grandchildren, Jeffrey Arant (Lauren), Kimberly Bethea (Joe), Carrie Bates (Brandon), Stefanie Denham (Josh) and Robby Ealum; great grandchildren, Jeffrey and Hunter Arant, Logan and Payton Denham, Bristol and Kinley Bethea; sisters and brothers, Mary Lou Hearn, Josephy Hatcher (Idell), Betty Sue Fairchild (Eugene), and Dan Hatcher (Poca Mae); special companion, Sonhui Reed; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
A Visitation will be held from Noon until 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at White Chapel Funeral Home in Montgomery, Alabama. Funeral Services will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Dric Williford officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Montgomery, Alabama.
