William Harvey Frye, age 70, of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away on January 24th after a long, courageous battle with congestive heart failure. William was preceded in death by his father William A. Frye, his mother Ailene Frye, and brother Tony Frye.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years Peggy (Jae-Seon) Frye; children Michael (Amanda Frye), Katrina (Donta Bowman), and John (Annabelle Frye); and his grandchildren Harmony, Julia, Riley, Trinity, Harper, and Hallie. His grandkids were the ‘apples’ of his eye and his love for them knew no bounds. He set the gold standard for loving unconditionally.
William was born in Andrews, NC - a ‘country boy’ and proud Army veteran through and through. During his seventy years on this earth, he never met a stranger and he had a deep heartfelt passion for the Atlanta Braves, Cracker Barrel, and a strong cup of coffee (or five). He was always quick to laugh, unafraid to poke fun at himself, and was one of the toughest guys around. For the past fifteen years, he’s battled through a myriad of serious health issues to bring laughter and joy to all those lucky enough to be around him.
Prior to COVID and deteriorating health, Bill was a devout Christian spending each and every Sunday at the Church of the Highlands.
Per Bill’s wishes, the family will have a small memorial service in Montgomery, AL at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home and Cemetery on Saturday, January 29, 2022 beginning at 2:00 in the afternoon with a service to follow beginning at 3:30 in the afternoon, with a celebration of life to follow at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the ‘Hope for the Warriors’ organization at https://www.hopeforthewarriors.org/about/make-a-donation/, the Organization provides comprehensive support programs for service members, veterans, and military families that are focused on transition, health and wellness, peer engagement, and connections to community resources.
