November 3, 1930 – October 24, 2021
Vera Delores Williams, age 90, born in Mobile, AL, went to her Heavenly home surrounded by her family on Sunday, October 24, 2021. She was immediately in the presence of her Savior, Jesus Christ and reunited with her husband she has lovingly missed for 37 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Hope Williams; her parents, Charles and Marguerite Benjamin; and her brother, Charles “Bubba” Benjamin. She is survived by her four children, Eddy (Pam) Williams, Latrell Fussell, Lois Ann (David) Pierce, and David (Lisa) Williams; her 11 grandchildren, Chris (Kelly) Williams, Dani Williams, Hope (Matt) Gallant, Brooke (Chris) Mills, Jonathan (Ginny) Pierce, Andrew (Morgan) Pierce, Stephen Pierce, David Pierce, Jr., Ashley (Shane) Jacques, Tayler (Jesse) Burton, and Josh Williams; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Williams was retired from the State of Alabama where she worked as a Fingerprint Classifier for the Department of Public Safety. In her later years, she was proudly one of the first employees of the Montgomery Biscuits where she was affectionately known as “Grandmama” to staff and players. She was a 62-year member of Dalraida Baptist Church where she loved and served staff members and church members alike.
Her family wishes to express their sincerest thanks to Miss Ciera Jones who lovingly cared for Mother for two years, as well as the caregiver family of Answered Prayer and the compassionate care of Amedisys Hospice.
A celebration of Mrs. Williams’ homegoing will be held at Dalraida Baptist Church, 3838 Wares Ferry Road in Montgomery on Saturday, October 30 at 10:00 am with visitation at 9:00 am. A graveside service will follow at Greenwood Serenity Memorial Gardens on Harrison Road.
