Tom was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Betty Britton Norris, his parents Thomas and Susie Norris of Fort Deposit AL, his brothers William Norris, Charles Norris, George Norris, Leon Norris, Robert Norris and Sidney Norris; his sisters Jeanette Simpler, Marguerite Saxon, Christine Pennini, Inez Martinez; grandson Britton Norris, and daughter in law Tina Norris.
He is survived by sons Lee Norris (Hilary) of Mt. Juliet TN and Richard Norris of Newburgh IN and daughter Libby Norris of Montgomery, three grandsons Paul Norris of Houston TX, Christopher Norris (Rachel) of Indianapolis IN and Craig Norris of Bloomington IN, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Tom served in US Air force during the Korean War. He attended the University of Alabama and was an ardent Bama fan for the rest of his life. He was a Certified Public Accountant at Jackson, Thornton and Company for his entire professional career, receiving a number of awards and recognition for his work. He retired as a Senior Partner in1993 after over 35 years there. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Montgomery where he was involved in missions, leading Sunday School and Bible studies, and was on the Administrative Board. He was committed to serving his church. He was known for his quick wit and sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Paul Norris, Christopher Norris and Craig Norris, nephews John Norris and Comer Coker, and close friends, Terry Mitchell, Jerry Mitchell, and Kevin Haynes.
Honorary Pallbearers will be past and present coworkers and employees of Jackson, Thornton and Company, and the members of the Men’s Bible Sunday School Class at First United Methodist Church.
Memorials may be sent to First United Methodist Church or to Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
A visitation for Thomas will be held Thursday, February 3, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL 36109. A graveside service will occur Friday, February 4, 2022 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Greenwood Serenity Memorial Gardens, 909 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL 36109.
