My condolences and apologies to the family of this brilliant man. I had the brief experience of singing with T. Clifford during his brief stint at Northwestern University. He would be pleased to know that the group, the Northwestern Community Ensemble, formed in 1971, continues to sing in 2023. He was an invaluable asset to this group.

during the mid to late 70s, i had the honor of being taught by dr. bibb at alabama state university. he was a teacher, mentor, and inspiration!  after graduation i joined the Peace Corps; serving in south korea and we remained in contact. in 1980 i went to japan to teach but we continued corresponding. however, by the 90s we had lost contact. 

i just learned of his 'going home' today (august 9th, 2019). i must say that it is because of t.c. bibb and another teacher at alabama state, dr. thelma glass, i am who i am today as a teacher (i have been voted  Teacher of the Year at my current university three times since 2005). 

dr. bibb always ended his missives to me with the salutation "go well, stay well". so, my sensei, i say to you belatedly: go well, stay well.

i hope you don't mind if i use your salutation from now on in my correspondence to others.

I am his great niece. I loved him so much he always think about us like when it was Christmas  He always get us something. He loved us the most he had a passion for singing I will still listen to his cds he recorded a song on. Every time I listen to it it feels like he's still here

Mr. Bibb was my English professor at Rust College.  His teaching of William Shakespeare's works changed my life.  I literally fell in love with literature as well as  Mr. Bibb's  teaching.  He was truly a great inspiration to those of us who were honored and blessed to be taught by one of the world's greatest teachers.

Dr. Bibb, the Rust College students who you taught will always remember you as the best professor.  You did not accept mediocrity; because of your high stands, we were inspired to work overtime to meet that challenge.  I am grateful to have had you as a professor. Rest in peace and know that your legacy lives on through the thousands of students taught by us!

I met Doctor Bibb as a student at Alabama State University. I got to know him better after I pledge Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and he was my chapter advisor. Rest In Peace,

Dr. Bibb was one of the first people I met after I began working at ASU. I remember he would go to a movie at the end of the week on Friday afternoon. He was always up to talk about his favorite music, recordings, and vocal music. He had a wonderful joie de vivre and esprit! Rest in Peace Dr. Bibb, your work on earth is done and God's heavenly choir needs your voice!

I had the good fortune to have been assigned to Mr. Bibb's English class at Rust College. He was the best; he was inspiring to all his students and he always demonstrated earnest concern for their welfare and future by pushing each of us outside our comfort zone, I will always remember him as one of the most outstanding teachers I have had throughout my educational career.

Without a doubt, Dr. Bibb was among the best teachers I had during my school career; he was an inspiration to me and he always demonstrated genuine care for all his students. He pushed all of us to venture outside our traditional comfort zone.He has been a special gift to all students who were so blessed as to have had him for a teacher. Uncle T.C. was the best great-uncle I ever had. He always encouraged me to do my best in everything I set out to do. No matter what, he always believed that I could do more than I thought I was able to do and he was right. I'm thankful that he was a part of my life, and I'll never forget him.

Uncle Son always had words of encouragement and support in whatever you endeavored. We will miss him greatly. Thanks for the help and love throughout the years. I have my memories and will always love you.

I have had the pleasure of calling Dr. Thomas Clifford Bibb, my beloved Uncle Son, since I was able to talk. He inspired me to reach for greater heights in life and education. I will truly miss him and am grateful he was an intricate part of our family and life

Dr. T. Clifford Bibb was my introduction to Alabama State University.  During Freshman Orientation, he walked around the registration table and handed me my computer punch card and shook my hand with a hearty "Welcome to Honors English".  My freshman year was spent listening and learning, drinking in all that he had to offer to a group of eager young minds.  His classes went a long way in molding my ability to navigate the course and receive my BS Degree.  And what a wonderful surprise as I left the stage upon completion to have his extended hand help me from the stage with a boisterous "Congratulations".  I most likely could and would have completed my education without having met Dr. Bibb, but the journey would not have been as challenging or entertaining.  He added a very special dimension to the chapter of my life titled ASU.  Thank you seems understated, but is certainly heartfelt.  Rest Well Dr. Bibb, you will be missed.

Dr. T. C. Bibb was my English professor at Rust College.  He was very young and very  brilliant and that served as an inspiration to me and my fellow student colleagues.  He was beginning his career as a college instructor and it became apparent that we, too, could aspire to become college professors early in our careers rather than waiting for an eternity.  He modeled excellence by precept and example.  He demanded the best from his students and also taught that an instructor could also be a friend and also a professional.  He treated us with dignity and respect and in return demanded equal respect.  The Rust College culture also demanded respect of its students so T. C. Bibb was a good fit for Rust College.  I met him in either l960 or l96l when Rust College was tendering a merger with Mississippi Industrial College, located across the street from Rust College.  I remember his tutoring and mentoring with fondest memories.

Dr. Bibb was my English professor and mentor when I was a student at Alabama State University. We have stayed in touch down through the years. I will miss our conversations about the world at large.

Dr. T. Clifford Bibb was my very good friend and colleague, and I will miss him greatly.  He helped to bring me to Montgomery, for which he has my lasting thanks.  In 1978-79, we worked shoulder to shoulder together, co-authoring a humanities textbook that was used for a number of years at Alabama State University and elsewhere.  It was an intense experience I will never forget.  That textbook is merely a small part of Clifford's contribution to the academic community.  His legacy has been and will be felt far beyond our own time and place.

Clifford was a very close friend: Scrabble player, conversationalist (via phone and face to face), co-choir director at Lilly Baptist Church, colleague at Alabama State University, and confidant. We loved each other dearly

I first met TC Bibb in September of 1961 at Rust College. Professor Bibb was beginning his career as an English teacher at Rust College. He was an outstanding teacher. He was always in the classroom before the students arrived, and he stood at the door and greeted each student by her/his last name, with the title of Miss or Mister. He taught, for the most part, using the question--answer method. He never took a seat unless it was during an exam, but even then he would get up and walk around. All of his assignments were clearly stated and the students knew what was required. Professor Bibb touched the lives of many students who became teachers. His legacy will live on though the lives of his former students. Rest in peace Professor Bibb for you have earned your place with the ancestors.
