Terry Austin Phillips, age 76, of Pike Road, Alabama passed away on Friday, November 19, 2021. Terry was born January 23, 1945 in Etowah County to Austin and Clara Phillips. He is survived by his beloved wife, Bonnie C. Phillips; his children Beth (Jose) Santiago and Jennifer (Jeff) Magee; his grandchildren Marisa and Isabel Santiago, as well as Benjamin, Emily, and Austin Magee; his siblings Richard Wayne (Ellen) Phillips, Linda Camp and Donna (Benny) Coleman. Terry is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins that he loved - too many to name individually. Terry was lovingly called Papa T. Daddy - Terry, Pop, Granddaddy by many more "kids" that embraced him and Bonnie as their own.
Terry served in the US Army, retired as Engineer Management at AT&T, retired as a counselor at Grace Ministries International and Christian Families Today and as director at GraceLife Family Ministries. It was in his second career that he lived out God's purpose for his life.
He was a member in good standing at Mount Paran Church of God in Atlanta, GA for many years. He taught many about God's grace. He enjoyed his membership in an exclusive group, the ROMEOS, Real Old Men Eating Out and felt that his commmunity in the Waters was like paradise on earth. Terry was full of wit and wisdom, so, in lieu of flowers, the family requests that letters of love and memories sharing a scripture, a life lesson, a funny story or a word of truth be written and shared with the family.
A memorial service for Terry will be held Saturday, November 27, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at The Chapel at The Waters, 1 Chapel Hill Street, Pike Road, AL 36064.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.Leak-MC.com for the Phillips family.
