Teresa Ann Richardson Simmons died July 3, 2021 at her home in her hometown of Montgomery, Alabama at the age of 63. Her battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed her courage in facing life challenges and solidified her reliance on the Lord and her family who loved her dearly.
Growing up in a time of great social unrest, Terri faced challenges that led to difficulties throughout her life. Despite these difficulties, she was a hard, meticulous, responsible worker, who was commended for her good work with the State of Alabama.
Terri’s passions in life included animals, the beach, and music. She loved cats, dogs, and rode horses in her younger years. Terri’s compassion for animals led to regularly adopting strays, and she would devote much of her time to feed and take care of neighborhood cats, even working tirelessly to capture and take them to the vet for treatment. Trips to the beach were always a source of happiness for Terri, with her family fondly remembering childhood and later adult trips with her to the Gulf. An avid fan of early rock and roll music, Terri was a Beatles fan, and reminisced about the time her Daddy took her to a Herman’s Hermits concert as a young teenager.
Declaring that her mother was her “best friend,” Terri spent her last years in her company, providing updates on her health to her brothers, while facing greater difficulties of her own as time passed. They often watched worship services throughout the day each Sunday, and prayed together for each other and loved ones.
Terri is survived by her mother Margaret Ladner Richardson; her brothers, Wayne O’Neal RIchardson (wife Lisa), and Mark Lamar RIchardson (wife Jennice); her nephews Matthew Richardson, Jacob Richardson, Michael Richardson, and Alex Richardson; her nieces Katie Richardson and Hannah Holifield; her aunt Doris Richardson, and beloved pets Katrina, Kelly Welly, Dusty, Rowdy, and Baby.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jack Wayne Richardson.
Terri will be honored by her family at a private graveside celebration of life on July 14, 2021.
