Sylvia Stephens Harris

Sylvia Jane Stephens Harris passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2018, at the age of 80. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. Richard Adley Harris; her parents, Joseph and Virginia Anthony Stephens; her son, Timothy Lee Colvin; her brother, Joseph Anthony “Tony” Stephens; her aunt, Jane D. Anthony Boddie; and her uncle, James Herbert Boddie.

Sylvia is survived by her stepchildren: Helen Harris, Kitty Harris, Richard Harris, Robert Harris (Kelly), and Alta Harris Gipson; her grandchildren, Katherine Damron, Adley Damron,

Mathew Damron, Adrian Smith, Elizabeth Smith, Hannah Gipson, Caroline Harris, Anna Harris, Tucker Harris, Stephanie Harris, Rick Harris; and her cousins, James Riley Boddie (Deborah Whiting), and Tyler Nye Boddie (Catherine). She was a loving mother and grandmother and once told her granddaughter, "A mother is the finest thing I've ever been."

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, August 20, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at Christchurch Anglican, 8800 Vaughn Rd., Montgomery, Alabama, with burial to follow at Greenwood Serenity Gardens.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to their cherished caregivers, Debra Knight, Carol Williams, and Annette Morris, for their love and help during this time.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials be made to the Richard A. Harris Memorial Scholarship Fund of the Baptist Healthcare Foundation, or Christchurch Anglican, funds for Ugandan Orphans, in memory of Sylvia Harris.
