Serenity was born in 1985 and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. A true theatre kid at heart, her joy and excitement shone through the most when she was performing on a stage (or anywhere, really!). Serenity, like her dad, was a music lover and enjoyed listening to live music with her friends. Serenity was a: coffee lover, tattoo-accumulator, and Golden Girls lines-reciter. She loved being in nature - sitting by a fast-flowing river was when she felt the most calm. She was so similar to her dad, Greg, that sometimes it was hard to tell the two apart. An amateur chef, Serenity could sling together a charcuterie board like nobody’s business. She loved to bake.
Serenity was diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive form of Crohn’s Disease when she was 14 years old that left her with a lifelong ileostomy. Throughout her hospitalizations the rest of her life, she acquired many friends and lasting relationships from her medical teams. Her bright and bubbly voice, boisterous sense of humor and effusive personality drew others to her wherever she went - even in hospital rooms. Serenity could meet someone for the first time with the biggest smile on her face, focus on them with her bright green eyes, and instantly become friends with them.
Serenity faced a seemingly insurmountable amount of health challenges throughout her life, but continued to battle bravely until her last days. Her family is grateful that she was able to pass away in comfort at home, away from the bright lights of a hospital room.
Serenity was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Register Land. She leaves behind her father, Gregory Land of Chattanooga, TN, her sister Jessie (Reid) Danville of Milton, GA, her two much-loved nephews Oliver and Landon Danville, and a host of aunts, cousins, and beloved friends who became her family.
In lieu of flowers, her family kindly requests donations honoring her memory to the Crohns & Colitis foundation
