Sara Henley Houlditch, daughter of the late Lonnie Coleman (L.C.) Henley and Sarah Howard Henley, was born, on August 9, 1939, and raised in Montgomery, Alabama. A 1957 graduate of Sidney Lanier High School, she would later attend Brenau University in Gainesville, Georgia and the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Sara was a former employee of Union Bank and Trust Company and Henley’s Memorial Company. The majority of her life was spent raising her family, taking care of her home, and caring for her parents. Later in life, she enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially her three granddaughters, whom she lovingly called her three precious angels. Mrs. Houlditch was a member of First United Methodist Church and First Baptist Church of Montgomery. She passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, following a brief illness. Mrs. Houlditch will be remembered for her sense of humor, love for family and friends, and her fighting spirit in the face of adversity.
Mrs. Houlditch is survived by her daughter, Katherine Houlditch Ward (Maxwell) and her son, Clay Henley Houlditch (Laurie), her three granddaughters, Sarah Margaret Ward, Mary Kate Houlditch, and Mallory Lytle Houlditch.
To know Sara was to love her, and the family would like to offer our sincere thanks to the doctors and nurses who loved and looked after our precious Mimi in her final days. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to your local Dementia Society, Humane Shelter, or spending time with family.
