Sara Davenport Funderburk

Sara Davenport Funderburk, 87, a resident of Montgomery, AL went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 18, 2012. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 20, 2012 at 3:00 PM from Leak-Memory Chapel with Rev. Warren Culver officiating, burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. A visitation will be from 1:30-3:00 PM prior to the service. Survivors include a daughter, Linda D. Ledbetter (Terry); a son, Reid Davenport (Emily); a step-daughter, Daniele Bruhn (Karl); a step-son, David Funderburk (Leah); 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Funderburk was preceded in death by her husbands, O.F. Davenport, Jr. and Robert H. Funderburk. She was the retired executive secretary of the Alabama Textile Manufacturers Association having served for 44 years with many professional honors, and was a longtime member of Capitol Heights Baptist Church serving in a number of positions and was instrumental in the founding of Capitol Heights Place. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Capitol Heights Baptist Church. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and a friend to many.
