Ruth Arant

Arant, Ruth Amason Hooks, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama passed away peacefully on February 25, 2011, at the age of 92. She was born December 15, 1918, in Ramer, Alabama. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 28, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Leak Memory Chapel, with the Reverend John Schmidt officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph L. Hooks, Sr., July 29, 1980, and her second husband, Martin Luther Arant, May 18, 2002. She is survived by two brothers, Coleman Amason and Gib Amason of Ramer, AL, her daughter, Patricia Walter (John) Seneca, SC, and sons, Ralph L. Hooks, Jr. (Lee Anne), Wetumpka, AL, Danny E. Hooks (Amy), Montgomery, AL and Bobby G. Hooks (Celia), Hoover, AL, nine grandchildren, Jason Scott Walter, Kyle Austin Walter, Darrel Lee Hooks, Amanda Elizabeth Lovell, Brandon Earl Hooks, Adam Christopher Hooks, Lauren Anne Hooks, Austin Kelley Hooks, Leah Crystal Hooks, 4 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. She worked for 21 years in Data Entry for the State of Alabama Highway Department. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Frazer Memorial United Methodist Church in Montgomery, Alabama. Thanks to the staff of Holly Cottage at Country Cottage Assisted Living and Amedysis Hospice.
