Ron Davenport

Ron is survived by his wife, Vila McWaters Davenport; children Nicole Samuels (Brian), Taylor Davenport, and Kane Davenport (AnnaMarie); step-children Parker Wright (Lori), and Leslie Watters (Daniel); his grandchildren Amelia Samuels, Pearson Samuels, Granger Samuels, Will Wright, Henry Wright, Andrew Watters, and Jack Watters; his brothers Sam Davenport (Loni) and Chris Davenport (Tracey). Ron is predeceased by his parents Clyde and Helen Davenport.

Ron was born October 15, 1947 to his parents Clyde and Helen in Sylacauga, Alabama. He graduated from Huntington College in Montgomery with a Bachelor of Science in History. Ron received his Juris Doctorate from The University of Alabama. He practiced law for over 40 years. Ron was a partner at Rushton, Stakely, Johnston, and Garrett, where he devoted his career to insurance defense.

Ron welcomed his children Nicole, Taylor, and Kane into his life and made memories with fun days spent on the lake and many Saturdays cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide. As an Eagle Scout, Ron dedicated his life to leadership and the service of others. He was active in various community theatres and enjoyed coaching various sports for his children. In 2005, he married his wife, Vila, and they enjoyed spending their years together with weekend trips to the beach, lake, and visiting their grandchildren.

Ron was a member of First Baptist Church, in Montgomery. He was involved with his Sunday school class and enjoyed fellowshipping with friends made in the group.

Friends and family will commence at one o'clock in the evening on Tuesday, the 25th of May at First Baptist Church Montgomery of Montgomery, Alabama with a Celebration of Life Service to follow beginning at two o'clock. Ron will be laid to rest at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home and Cemetery immediately after the Celebration of Life service is over, friends and family are encouraged to attend the Graveside service where fellowship and memory sharing will take place after the graveside service has been dismissed in the Magnolia Room of Alabama Heritage Funeral Home and Cemetery.

In lieu of usual remembrances, memorials honoring the life of Ron Davenport may be directed to, "The Parkinson’s Foundation" in Ron’s honor.
