Robert R. Thompson

Robert (Bob) Rufus Thompson, 87, died peacefully on Friday April 10, 2020. We celebrate that on this Good Friday he entered the Glory he so often talked with us about. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Pat Thompson and brother Harry Thompson. He is survived by his children: Trisha Thompson, Millbrook; Eddie (Robin) Thompson, Milwaukee Wl; Jeff (Beth) Thompson, Pike Road; Sandy (David) Gaines, Asheville NC; Tim (Cheryl) Thompson, Montgomery; 10 grandchildren; Chris (Angelia) Madderra, Anthony Thompson, Colin (Rebecca) Thompson, Amanda Gaines, Morgan (Trent) Fogg, Tiffany Thompson, Ashley Gaines, Carmen Alexis Thompson, Matthew Thompson, Daniel Thompson; 4 great-grandchildren: Brianna (Ryan) Redden, Ayrden Madderra, Tesla Thompson, Toby Thompson; 1 great-great-grandchild: Ren Redden; and very special friend Ms. Judi Minister. He was a devoted member of Eastern Hills Baptist Church for more than 50 years. He spent many years serving churches around the country as a member of Carpenters for Christ ministry team. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as games of dominoes and pinochle. Honorary pallbearers will be Dave Furst, Jim Gouge, Don Walker, Mike Nisbet, and all members of his Carpenters for Christ team.

A private graveside service will be Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at Greenwood Cemetery in Montgomery, Alabama. The family plans to schedule a celebration of life service at a later date.
