Robert Tate Allen was born on September 16, 1962 in Montgomery, AL to James Robert Allen and Rhebia McQueen Allen. He a graduate of Sydney Lanier High School in Montgomery, AL, and later went on to study at Auburn University. Shortly after, he married Gwen Allen in 1986. Tate was an extremely loving and caring father to Justin, Averie, and Zachary Allen. Tate had a love for traveling, and often took his family on many great adventures. Later in his life, he became a wonderful and doting PawPaw to five grandchildren who he loved dearly. He was a devout Christian man with an astounding love for his family, Auburn football, history, and classic rock and roll. Tate was an overwhelmingly accepting person with a heart of gold that was always there to help anyone in need, and anyone that knew him could always feel the love he shared. Words cannot express how much he will be missed and how much he was cherished by his family.
He is preceded in death by his father, James Robert Allen, and his son, Justin Heath Allen. He is survived by his wife, Gwen Allen; his daughter and son-in-law, Averie Allen Tompkins and Joshua Tompkins; his son and daughter-in law, Zachary Allen and Hailey Faulkner Allen; his mother, Rhebia Nordan; his sister and brother-in-law, Tammy Allen Holcomb and Jimmy Holcomb; and his grandchildren Aliyah Tompkins, Ava Allen, Aria Tompkins, Tatum Allen, and Ryder Allen.
Visitation will be held at Leak Memory Chapel on Friday August, 14, 2020 at 11am-12pm. Following visitation, a graveside service will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Tallassee, AL at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, please send any donations in his name to the American Heart Association.
