Oscar L. Chatham

Oscar LeRoy Chatham, 87, a resident of Wetumpka, AL and a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on Monday, September 26, 2011. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2011 at 2:00 PM from Mountain View Baptist Church with Brother Anthony Counts officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery at 3:30 PM. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Leak-Memory Chapel. Mr. Chatham was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church in Wetumpka. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Jane Chatham; also by siblings, Louise Catoe, P.E. “Jack” Chatham, Jr., and Elizabeth Atkinson. He is survived by sisters, Lula Kate Davenport and Jennie Geddings; son, Littleton R. Chatham (Susan); daughters, Jane C. Adams (Evan), Linda C. Randall (Allen); eight grandchildren, Bradford L. Chatham, Valerie R. Abbott (Jason), Kaylin A. Black (D.J.), Zachary E. Adams (Samantha), Sheena A. Austin (Derek), Shawn K. Wideman (Alice), Aaron M. Randall (Jeri), Alanna Randall, and five great-grandchildren, Jaycie L. Black, Dawson R. Black, Coen S. Abbott, Barrett E. Adams, Samantha Randall, with two more “great-grans” on the way. Active pallbearers will be his grandsons and grandsons-in-law. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men’s Sunday School Class of Mountain View Baptist Church and IBM co-workers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mountain View Baptist Church.
