Michael is survived by his wife, Sharon T. Roeder; son Michael (Regina) Roeder; and daughter Aubrey (Chris) Fiorillo; brother Conrad (Judy) Roeder and sister Kim Bywater; grandsons Kray Roeder, Hudson Roeder, and Gavin Roeder, nieces Heather (Brian) Johnston and Dawn (David) Taylor.
Mr. Roeder was preceded in death by; father Willis Roeder; mother Jean Bradley Bywaters and step father E. Lee Bywaters.
After his honorable discharge from the Army, Michael served in the Montgomery Police Department where he made friends for life. His career led him to the Attorney General's Office and the role of special investigator. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, devoted husband, patriotic public servant, self proclaimed avid hunter, die hard Alabama fan and very dedicated to his life long friends.
Michael enjoyed his grandchildren, hunting, fishing, firearms and inappropriate jokes. Known for his witty banter and practical jokes, laughter was his medicine.
A visitation for Mr. Roeder will occur Friday, November 8, 2019 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home, 10505 Atlanta Highway, Montgomery, AL 36117. A celebration of life is set for 2:00 pm with interment to follow in Alabama Heritage Cemetery. Rev. Gerald Wood will be officiating.
Serving as pallbearers are Mike Thrower, Mark Thrower, Bruce Lieberman, Herman Evans, Richard Thornell, Larry Lockwood and Barry Thrower.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Michael's memory may be made to Alabama Police Benevolent Association; and American Cancer Society.
