Michael Wayne served with the United States Marine Corps for six years during the Vietnam War. After enlisting Michael Wayne married his honey, Suzanne Parker, and they moved to Seaside, California where their daughter Nicole was born. They celebrated 54 years of marriage this year, and the only days they spent apart were during his deployments. After leaving the service and returning to Alabama, Michael Wayne went on to continue his career as a police officer for the Montgomery Police Department for over 20 years before retiring. Over the years Michael Wayne and Suzanne spent their time together raising their daughter, building their home in Hope Hull, and watching their grandchildren grow up.
Michael Wayne loved spending time with his grandchildren and family. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he was the biggest Alabama fan the world has ever known. No one was a stranger to Michael Wayne, and he never failed to put a smile on the face of anyone he met.
He is survived by his wife Suzanne Harris. Surviving in addition to his wife are his daughter Nicole West and son-in-law Corey Walker, and his grandchildren Brittany Hornsby, Taylor West, Junior Pace, Olivia Walker, and Rowan Hornsby. He is also survived by his sister Debbie Holley, her children Amy and Jason, and his niece Melissa Sykes. In addition he is survived by numerous cousins, nieces/nephews, and extended family.
A visitation for Michael will be held Tuesday, November 28, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home, 10505 Atlanta Highway, Montgomery, AL 36117, followed by a funeral service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
