The son of Nathan and Addie, Maynard grew up in Pittsfield, Maine. He was born February 5,1934 and attended Maine Central Institute.
At the age of 18, Maynard enlisted in the United States Air Force. He valued this service highly and attained the rank of SMSGT. As part of this service, he enlisted during the Korean War and saw conflict during the Vietnam War. He retired in May1976 at Maxwell Air Force Base, in Montgomery, AL. After 23 years of military service, he went to work with the City of Montgomery as their Business License Inspector for 20 years. Lastly, he worked (played) for Reinhardt Toyota until he "retired' and moved to Crossville, TN.
Maynard is survived by his loving wife, Vickie and his 3 daughters Melia A. Jacobs, Kelly J. Stevens (Shane) and Angela K. Jacobs, and his best Buddy, Yogi and preceded in death by his son Nathan D. Jacobs and his Lil Buddy, Chris. He is also survived by 2 sisters, Jean Thompson and Deborah Nickerson. He is loved by his grandchildren: Katlyn (Jorge), Eva, Tyler, Seth, Nicole, Nate, Josh and great-grandchildren: Jasper, Emmett, Cody, Jake, and Kendall.
A celebration of life service honoring Maynard will be held Sunday, August 20,2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM (CST) at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home, 10505 Atlanta Highway, Montgomery, AL 36117.
