Mary Lou Gibson Overstreet, 76, of Ramer, passed away July 6, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents, Will G. Gibson and Louise Johnson Gibson; brothers, Will Glen Gibson, Sr., Leslie “Buddy” Gibson, James “Red” Gibson, Jack Gibson, and Clevy Gibson; baby sister, Louise Montaine Gibson; sister in law, Peggy Gibson; brother in law, Howard Sweat. But her greatest loss was the Daddy to her 4 children and the love of her life, John L. Overstreet Sr.
John and Mary Lou would have been married 50 years if John hadn’t left this world before December, 2009. Mary Lou was a very opinionated woman; she told you like it was. John and Mary Lou were always doing for others, from taking food to cutting grass, they did it all. Mary Lou loved her garden and sharing her peas and tomatoes. She loved sending flowers to those who needed a pick me up. She loved doing for others.
She leaves behind her very loved children, John Overstreet Jr. (Cindy), David Overstreet (Greta), Donna Lynn Johns (Pat) and Edna Thomas; her cherished grandchildren, Nicole Percival (Ben), Juddson Overstreet (Sara), Wesley Johns (Rachel), Shelby Overstreet, John Taylor Thomas, Abby Overstreet, Harley Overstreet, John Henry Overstreet, Payton Holley and Tyler Holley. But her greatest blessings were her great grand babies, Annabell Bryan, MaryLou Victoria Johns and Rylee Eloise Johns. She is survived by her brother; Henry “Hoot” Gibson (Bobbie); sister, Sue Sweat; sister in law’s, Annette Gibson, Pat Gibson and Carol Gibson; and a special nephew who was like a son to her, Tommy “Frog” Gibson (Susan).
Services for Mary Lou will be Friday, July 10, 2020 at Leak Memory Chapel at 11:00 AM with the visitation from 9:30 – 11:00am. Burial will follow the service at Canty Cemetery, Ramer. Pallbearers will be Bubba Overstreet, Spec Overstreet, Wesley Johns, Frog Gibson, Cole Gibson and Shorty Gibson. Honorary Pallbearers will be John Taylor Thomas, John Henry Overstreet, Alvin Edwards, Sue Ann Davis, Melissa McQueen, MyCala McQueen, Robert and Betty Florence and Rosie Wilger.
The family would like to thank the special caregivers for the love and care that was given to their momma, Pam Dean, Laken Dean, Susie Norris, Lametrice Hall and Shnita Knight.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Canty Cemetery in care of Donna Johns.
