Lewis, Maggie Cheatham Brunson (“Nana”) passed away at Baptist South Hospital in Montgomery, AL, at the age of 90 on Wednesday, March 29, 2017. Maggie was born in Fort Deposit, Alabama. She moved to Montgomery in 1945. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She dedicated her life to spending time with and caring for her family and friends. Her devotion to her family, quick wit, and positive outlook on life will always be remembered. She was a very talented lady, who could do anything she set her mind to do. She worked in bookkeeping and accounting for approximately fifty years. Maggie retired from the City of Montgomery, as a city treasurer in 1994. She was preceded in death by her parents: Willie and Ilene Wheeler Cheatham, brothers: William Hardy, Daniel Dent Cheatham, and Billy Ray Cheatham, sisters: Winnie Cheatham Hoskins, Lois Jeanette Cheatham Guinn, Mary Louise Cheatham Findley, and former husbands: Billy Brunson, Fred St. Martin, and Joe F. Lewis. She is survived by two sons: Dory Brunson (Chris), Joe Brunson (Sandy), one daughter: Fran Brunson Berry (Marty), six grandchildren: Russ Noble, Rod Noble (Melody), Keith Brunson, Keri McKeough (Vince), Kannan Sharp (Bobby), Sharon Brunson, Emily Madore, six great grandchildren: Kaelen and Addison Brunson, Avery and Sam Sharp, Hudson and Levi Noble, one sister: Christine Cheatham Hartley, and numerous nieces and nephews. Maggie’s greatest pleasures were cooking, working with her flowers, and dancing. Maggie and her husband, Joe loved to dance. Maggie made a difference in her world and will continue to make a difference through her off-springs and those she touched. Flowers will be accepted and very much appreciated, she loved her flowers. A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2017 from 10:00-11:00AM with a graveside service following in Greenwood Serenity Gardens beginning at 11:00AM. Pallbearers will be grandsons.
