MONTGOMERY - Lovie Annette Sedberry Bryan went to be with the Lord on March 10, 2021. She was born in Wetumpka, Alabama, on December 24, 1941, and resided in Montgomery for the majority of her adult life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Parker Sedberry and Gertrude Maria McGehee Sedberry of Wetumpka, Alabama; father-in-law, Joel Ester Bryan and mother-in-law, Myrtie Marie Wallace Bryan of Opp, Alabama; sister-in-law, Sue Hendley of Theodore, Alabama; and niece, Emily Hitch Carter of Harrisburg, North Carolina.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Jerry Hinton Bryan; daughter, Camille Annette Bryan Kennedy (Tommy); son, Christopher Hinton Bryan (Jill); daughter, Carolyn Maria Bryan; granddaughter, Wallace McGehee Bryan; and grandson, Christopher Hinton Bryan, Jr.
She is also survived by her brother, Reverend George McGehee Sedberry (Melanie) of Helena, Alabama; brother-in-law, Jack Bryan (Shirley) of Mobile, Alabama; brother-in-law, Jay Hendley of Theodore, Alabama; sister-in-law, Marilyn Hitch (Andy) of Montgomery; sister-in-law, Linda Colvin (Thagard) of Andalusia, Alabama; brother-in-law, Charles Bryan (Martha) of Opp, Alabama; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lovie graduated from Wetumpka High School and continued her studies at Auburn University, where she was a member of Chi Omega. She earned a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Auburn University at Montgomery and went on to teach with Montgomery Public Schools for 25 years.
Lovie especially enjoyed spending time with her family and attending worship services at First Baptist Church where she was a member of the Fleming/Wood Bible Fellowship Class. She saw God’s handiwork in everything around her -- in her gardening, sewing, music, reading, and traveling. She also enjoyed researching and archiving her family’s heritage.
To honor her, a private graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 16, 2021. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life Service on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, at 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Montgomery, Stakely Sanctuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in honor of Lovie may be designated to the FBC Caring Center or Children’s Hope, both ministries at First Baptist Church, 305 South Perry Street, Montgomery, Alabama, 36104.
