Louise Dismukes, of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away September 1, 2018, at the age of 86. The daughter of Ruth (Brock) and Benjamin Ellison Dismukes, she was born in Georgiana, Alabama, on February 7,1932. Following graduation from Georgiana High School she attended Birmingham-Southern College and the University of Alabama. She worked for the State of Alabama for many years and retired from the Alabama Department of Revenue. Baptized and raised in the Christian faith at First United Methodist Church, Georgiana, upon moving to Montgomery in the early 1950s, she made her church home at the First United Methodist Church of that city. She loved her church and was a faithful member to the end, and particularly loved singing in the choir, which she did as long as she was able. Louise, along with her mother Ruth, was skilled at sewing and other forms of needlecraft. She leaves behind for friends and family a treasured legacy of knitted items, needlepoint, and other crafts.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Edward Brock Dismukes.
She is survived by her niece Ann (Mike) Allen and nephew Alan (Virginia) Dismukes, as well as grandnieces and grandnephews,Michelle (Richard) Mickwee, Dan (Ashley) Watkins, Kate Dismukes, Ruth Dismukes, Kendall (Michael) Bolling, and Dana Allen, also great grandnieces and great grandnephews Molly Self, Richard Mickwee III, Olivia Bolling, and Cooper Bolling.
Services will be held at First United Methodist Church, Montgomery, at 11:00a.m., Thursday, September 6, Leak Memory Chapel directing. Visitation will take place prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the music program of First United Methodist Church, Montgomery.
