Dr. Louis L. Floyd, III, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 27, 2015 at the age of 81 with his family at his side.
Dr. Floyd retired from the Federal Government after 26 years of service. He was an active member of the Montgomery bowling community for over 35 years. He was inducted into the Montgomery and Alabama Bowling Hall of Fame and served as a National Director for the American Bowling Congress (now USBC) for 8 years. He served as a faithful deacon at Hutchison Missionary Baptist Church, a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and a past worshipful Master of Prince Hall Mason.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Greta; two daughters, Karen F. Prestage and Ronda F. (Wilbert) Smith; son in Christ, Tedrick (Marilyn) Hopkins; granddaughters, Jacqueleen Prestage and Sydney Smith; and great grandson, Jaleal Prestage.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Hutchinson Missionary Baptist Church, Montgomery, Alabama. Dr. Floyd will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Montgomery, Alabama.
