Lorena was preceded in death by her father and mother, Lamar and Lucille Flowers, brothers, Charles Flowers, Gerald Flowers, Benny Flowers, Kline Flowers and son David Connor.
Lorena is survived by her son, Raymond Connor (Sue), daughter Margaret Connor, daughter-in law, Susie Connor, grandchildren, Mike (Paula) Connor, Bobby (Tonya) Connor, Ricky Connor, Paige Connor, Steven (Bethany) Connor, and Connor Grier; great-grandchildren, Nathan Connor, Clay Connor, Timothy Connor, Anna Claire Connor, Drew Connor, Abbie Connor, sister Brunese Mitchell and several nephews and nieces.
Lorena was born in rural Pike County, Alabama on May 21, 1933 and grew up there where her parents helped her and her siblings develop a strong sense of family devotion and strong work ethics. She would graduate from high school, work for the telephone company until she begin nursing school and then marry. After her children were born, Lorena completed her nursing degree at St. Margaret’s School of Nursing and begin her lifelong career as a registered nurse. She would later earn her Associate Degree, and then her Bachelor Degree from Troy State University in 1993. She remained in nursing until she retired from the State of Alabama in 1998. After her retirement she enjoyed traveling and sharing those adventures with family and friends. She was an avid bridge player, and one who loved to spend time in her flower gardens and yard. She was a faithful member of Heritage Baptist Church in Montgomery and participated in the many various church activities with the senior adult ministry.
Loving Daughter, Sister, Mother, Grandmother, Gramie, and Maw Maw, Lorena’s legacy will live on in the hearts of her family especially her grandchildren who said the following about her: She is a Child of the King, who wanted nothing more than to see her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren walk with the Lord. She found great delight in spiritual conversations with them. She was faithful to take them to church and she made sure they had access to the Word of God by always giving them a Bible and marking passages that she felt needed to be read. She was the power of our family, the love that built us and the grace that we learned, her heart was filled with love and gratitude to God above. She was a strong, hard worker, a provider to her family, the heart and soul of our family, the one who always called to see how you were doing. She was strong willed, loving and made sure everyone was taken care of, she loved the Lord and her family unconditionally.
Pallbearers will be Mike Connor, Bobby Connor, Ricky Connor, Steven Connor, Nathan Connor, and Clay Connor. Honorary Pallbearers will be Connor Grier, Timothy Connor, and Drew Connor.
A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023, 11:00am, at Leak Memory Chapel located at 945 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, Alabama 36109 with Pastor Shane Russell and Pastor Joseph Frank officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to services. A graveside committal service will follow and be held at Greenwood Serenity Gardens located adjacent to Leak Memory Chapel.
