Mrs. Linda McCook Vaughan passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord surrounded by family on November 17, 2023 after a long illness. She was born in Daytona, Florida to Eddie Julian McCook, Jr. and Lois McDuffie McCook Wise on May 13, 1950. She was a proud graduate of Geneva High School, class of 1968, and later went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude with a degree in criminal justice from Troy University in 1976.
She worked as a paralegal at Thorington and Gregory for many years until she retired. She loved her family, God and her sweet pup Bitsy who stayed by her side until the end. Her devoted husband of 55 years cared for her tirelessly in the last few years. She was a unique lady, a talented artist who enjoyed exploring different mediums and even had her pilot’s license. She was accepted into law school, but turned it down when she became pregnant with her daughter, Casey. She had such a big heart with a love for animals and the biggest for her children and grandchildren. She was full of wisdom, compassion, kindness and most of all love.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Charlotte Jean McCook Whitten and Barbara Ann McCook Spears, brother-in-law, Jackie Spears, and her nephew, Zachary Spears.
She is survived by her husband Julius Ray Vaughan and her children Jeff Vaughan (Amanda) grandchildren Isabella, Jiselle and Jeffrey; Casey Vaughan Bailey (Evans) grandchildren Reese, Charlotte and Jack; her sister Sandy McCook Hill (Rob) and many beloved nieces and nephews.
