Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Lester Calloway Sanders and Lois Evelyn Sanders and her brother, Robert Lester Sanders.
She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Thomas Hicks, Jr.; her daughter, Shannon Hicks McDonald (Brannon); her son, Hayden Hicks (Amanda); her grandchildren, Charleigh Hayden Hicks and Landon Thomas Hicks; her sister, Deborah Sanders Manasco, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Linda loved to craft. She spent her time cross stitching, sewing, and making candles, as well as tending to her garden. She loved orchids. She also enjoyed going to the lake, fishing, and riding horses. Linda also loved country music and seeing the Judds, especially Wynnona, play live.
Linda was also a highly educated woman. She had dual Bachelor's degrees in History and Math, as well as a Master's in Education. She began her teaching career at Jeff Davis High School, where she taught for 7 years before moving on to Auburn University at Montgomery.
She then moved to Montgomery Academy and pioneered their computer program. She stayed there for 4 years before returning to Auburn University at Montgomery once more.
A graveside committal service for Linda will be held Thursday, April 10, 2025 at 11:00 AM at White Chapel-Greenwood Funeral Home, 909 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL 36109.
