Born and raised in Montgomery, Kimberly’s life was a testament to resilience, love, and the strength of the human spirit. Her gentle spirit touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She proved that adversity could be met with grace, reminding us that even in the face of life’s hardest challenges, there is always room for laughter and joy.
Kimberly’s life story stands as a beacon of hope, demonstrating that no obstacle is insurmountable with a positive attitude and unwavering faith. Kimberly found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was cheering on her beloved Alabama football team, listening to music, sitting in the front row at her brother’s baseball games, or indulging in the joy of shopping. She also enjoyed swimming, shooting hoops, and horseback riding with MANE, the Montgomery Area Non-Traditional Equestrians.
Kimberly never met a stranger. Her cheerful nature and infectious smile endeared her to all. Kimberly enjoyed close friendships with her fellow Girl Scouts, campers & counselors at Camp ASCCA, and classmates at Jefferson Davis High School. After graduating in 2002, she frequently spent time at the Smith Center in Prattville, where she was named the Queen of Hearts at one of the many dances she attended there. Kimberly was proud to be a March of Dimes Ambassador to promote and represent children with disabilities.
Kimberly loved deeply and was always happiest when surrounded by her family and friends. Her twin sister, Kristy, preceded her in death shortly after the girls were born. She was also preceded by her Aunt Georgette Gilliam. Survivors include her devoted mother, Karen Hall Gilliam, loving father, Raymond Kenneth Gilliam, Jr., baby brother, Christopher Gilliam (Amber), half-sister, Lisa Baggett (James), half-brother, Virgil Gilliam, and beloved Aunt Kaye Lager (Andrew). Kimberly also held a special place in her heart for her nieces, Olivia, Isabelle, and Anne Gilliam, and had many cherished cousins. The Gilliam’s are especially grateful to their dear friend, Sandra Porter and her family, who have provided priceless love and support over the years.
A celebration of Kimberly’s life will be held on Friday, September 1, 2023, at White Chapel-Greenwood Funeral Home with Dr. John Ed Mathison officiating. The family will receive visitors at 9am, with services at 10am, followed by graveside interment.
Kimberly’s memory will forever shine brightly in our hearts. Her legacy is one of courage, love, and an enduring belief in the promise of eternal life.
