He joined the Air Force in 1967 specializing in communications. In his words...
“I joined the AF in late 67 after I got my draft notice. If you didn't keep your grades up - they would draft you. So I joined the AF, put my MGA into storage and went to san Antonio, Texas for basic training and then technical training in Wichita Falls, TX for a communications center operator. Why communications? Because the slide they showed on pick a career field day had this really good looking blonde. It was all a ruse or a model they flew in for it. Didn't see too many of them. Anyway, then I got my first assignment - overseas at Taipei Air Station, Taiwan. Which was a single man's dream. Had a great time and then I got a consecutive overseas to Athenai Airport, Greece. It was at the airport and was a great assignment. Got to see most of the ruins and places of interest, It was very educational and a great time to see this ancient world.
Then I met my wife and I was ready to settle down. Of course Maria is not a settle down woman - she likes to have fun and see the world. So we got married and had a little girl. Koreen now has 4 children and is a Life Coach outside Seattle. How did I meet Maria? Believe it or not, I lived in an apartment house right next door to Aristotle Onassis.
We came back to the US in 1973 and stationed at MacDill AFB in Tampa. When I was in Europe, I went to night school at the Univ of Maryland European Division. Small world. In Tampa, I went to the Univ of Tampa got my BA in History degree under the bootstrap program and went to Officers Training School in 1979. OTS was back in Texas. So Maria and the children, Kenny III was born in 1975. He is married and has 2 children, stayed in the family business of the US Air Force and stationed in North Carolina.”
