Kenneth H. Stringer (Pops) died in Montgomery on May 1, 2020. He was 83 years old. He was born in Honoraville, AL. Parents were Ruby Mae and Hense Stringer. He is survived by his wife, Linda, of 59 years, his children, Pam Anderson and Steve Stringer (Paige). There are three grandchildren, Mandy Stringer, Caleb Anderson, and Mallory Hitson. His sister is Sybil Branum Jones, nephew, Ben Branum, Jeff Branum (deceased) and nieces, Sonya Reece and Kim Scarbrough, and many cousins. Also his faithful dog, Mack, who took every step he did.
Ken graduated from Greenville High School and the University of Alabama. He became a fighter pilot for the U.S Navy until he was retired due to medical reasons. He began working for Alabama’s Examiners of Public Accounts, retiring after 30 years. Ken also farmed and raised cattle in Pike Road where he lived for 55 years.
Ken was an honorable man, gentle and humble, who loved life. He dearly loved and was devoted to God, his wife, children, grandchildren, his church, his country and his friends. Ken was independent, strong, generous and unselfish. He was courageous and loyal, worked hard and persevered. He was an avid gardener; watching plants grow was a passion. Ken had a wonderful sense of humor and made all of us laugh. He was loved and had a heart for God.
Ken was a long time member of Woodland UMC. With good friends, he attended the Saturday Morning Kirksey Coffee group for over 50 years. His family will celebrate his life at a service led by Tim Meadows, pastor. Memorials may be sent to Woodland United Methodist Church, Pike Road, Alabama.
