Keith Winfield Geiger, age 76, of Montgomery, Alabama died on November 9, 2017. Keith was born in Los Angeles, California to Keith and Mary (Beth) Geiger. He spent his childhood living in the United States and the Middle East. Prior to joining the Air Force in 1965, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Duke University. Among his many Air Force accomplishments, Keith was a successful navigator with a tour in Vietnam; an instructor; research analyst; and editor of the Airpower Journal. He also continued his education by earning a Master of Political Science degree from Auburn University. He took pride that he had a rewarding military career while avoiding an assignment to the Pentagon, or in the Washington DC area. He and his family eventually settled in Montgomery, Alabama over 30 years ago, where Keith retired as a Colonel after 26 years of service. Following the Air Force, Keith worked in the real estate and accounting fields. He enjoyed the outdoors, reading, being a "roadie" for his wife Patty's band, and he was a dog lover. He was also an avid history buff, spending much of his free time researching and writing a World War II military history book.
Keith is survived by his son Kurt Geiger, and daughters Jameela Geiger Nikolich, Suzie Wells, Colleen Gold, and Erin Malinowski; also surviving are 11 grandchildren and his brother Kerry Geiger. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patty Geiger, and his parents.
Keith will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia. The Geiger Family wishes to thank the professional and compassionate services provided by Visiting Angels.
