Julian M. Alford Sr. of Montgomery,Alabama passed away peacefully on October 23Rd, one month shy of his 89th birthday. Mr. Alford was a graduate of The Williams School in Montgomery and attended Alabama Christian College; he was a proud veteran of the US Navy, and served on the USS Bausell (DD-845). Following his military service he was employed by The US Border Patrol, Montgomery Police Department and retired from the Department of Justice as a Deputy United States Marshal.
Mr. Alford was preceded in death by his loving wife Ruth Pierce Alford and parents James Robert Alford and Mattie Jackson Alford. Mr. Alford is survived by his son, Julian M. Alford Jr, and his wife, Sandra Richards Alford, along with his favorite Dachshund “Bubba”. It was a mutual adoration for each other.
Mr. Alford loved working in his garden, watching Alabama Football and tinkering in his workshop.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Leak Memory Chapel with a graveside service to follow at 3:00 PM at Greenwood Serenity Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Steve Stephens, Seth Stephens, Cameron Stephens, Bob Williams, Ned Holley and Sam Harris. Honorary Pallbearers will be Leroy Pierce, Brison Mote, Joe Chambliss, Ken Colvert and Chad Edwards.
Service will be officiated by Rev. Mark Osgood, Pastor of Perry Hill United Methodist Church.
The family would like to extend thanks for the wonderful care provided by the staff at Baptist Hospital East, Montgomery. Special thanks to John Knox Assisted Living Facility for providing wonderful care for the last year.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the National Kidney Foundation, or the charity of your choice in memory of Mr. Alford.
