John B. Loftin Sr.

John B. Loftin, Sr., born December 9, 1929 died March 10, 2017. He is survived by his wife; Joyce W. Loftin, children; Lucy Loftin Williams, Tricia Loftin Roberts, John B. Loftin, Jr., grandchildren; Catherine Williams, Sara Roberts and John Michael Roberts. Mr. Loftin was best known for his business, Greenmont Liquid Gas & Fertilizer Company, Inc., which he ran since 1955. Mr. Loftin was raised in Ft. Deposit, AL and graduated from Lowndes County High School. He was valedictorian and received a full scholarship to the University of Alabama where he majored in business. He was a member of ROTC and enrolled in the U.S. Air Force immediately after college. He served his country in Washington DC as a Special Officer Investigator. He returned home to Alabama to open Greenmont Liquid Gas & Fertilizer Company, Inc. and resided in Montgomery until his death. He was President of Rocky Mount Cemetery Board of Directors. Graveside services will be held at Rocky Mount Cemetery, in Highland Home, AL on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the W.O. Palmer Scholar Foundation, Inc.
