Jo Ann Yates

Jo Ann spent her life serving others, caring, loving, and cherishing her beloved family. The legacy she leaves is one of beauty and grace. She was a woman full of faith, who lavishly poured out God's love on her friends and family. She will be deeply missed.

Jo Ann Yates is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Bobby Jerry Yates; son, Steven Morris Yates (Beverly Landers Yates); daughter, Melody Yates Tucker (Anthony Sha Tucker); sisters, Rhonda Brewer and June McClendon; four grandchildren, David Yates (Abby), Adam Yates (Alex), Lance Tucker (Amber), and Brittany Bethea (Mark); 12 living great-grandchildren (who she lovingly called her "extra special blessings"), Harper Yates, Sam Yates, Camilla Yates, Jack Yates, Crawford Yates, Betty Yates, Creed Tucker, Natalie Tucker, Jude Tucker, Micah Bethea, Helen Ann Bethea, and Nora Bethea.

Mrs. Jo Ann Yates is predeceased by her father, Morris Berry Richardson; mother, Annie Pearl Richardson; sister, Carolyn Ingram; and great-granddaughter, Hadley Rose Yates.

A Celebration of Life for Jo Ann will be held on Tuesday, April 2nd, 2024, at First Baptist Church, 305 South Perry Street, Montgomery, Alabama, 36104. The visitation will begin at 10:30 AM, followed by a service at 11:30 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the Yates family asks that donations be made to First Baptist Church of Montgomery Community Ministries or to Cure SMA (cureSMA.org).
