Jesse Marvin Thompson, Jr., age 93 of Montgomery, AL, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2017. He retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service, and he was a carrier with the United States Postal Service for over 20 years. Mr. Thompson was an avid reader who enjoyed history, western movies and TV shows, and traveling to various places, particularly the west. He was also a loving person who cherished is family. Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Thompson, Sr., Maybelle Thompson; and his siblings, Bette Gaines, Charles Earl, John Berl, and Fred Thompson. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Naomi Stephens Thompson, children, Sherron (Michael) Schaefer, Pamela (James) Barnes; grandchildren, Stephen Schaefer, Jesse Schaefer, Jessica (Jeff) Clover, Tammy (Keith) Edgar, Vincent ( Sandra) Barnes, Candace (Mike) Warden; eight great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, March 13, 2017 at Leak Memory Chapel with Brother Doyle Roberson officiating. The burial will be held at Greenwood Serenity Cemetery. The family will begin to accept friends at 1:00 PM, prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association, Donation Processing Center, P.O. Box 7000, Albert Lea, MN 56007. Leak Memory Chapel is directing.
