Jerry P. Smith

Born in Indiana, Jerry went on to graduate from Perdue University and earned his Master’s degree from Texas A&M University. Jerry enjoyed a 23 year career in the U.S. Air Force including assignments in Alaska, Colorado Springs, The Pentagon, and Gunter A.F.S where he retired in 1983. He was preceded in death by his father, Francis Cecil Smith and mother, Willadean Smith, of Marion, Indiana, also by his step mother, Margaret Smith (Shane), and step-brother, Robert Shane. He is survived by his wife of forty-six years, Virginia, and by his children, Michelle and Jerry P. Smith, Jr., by his grandchildren, Hannah, Noah and Sarah Smith of Firestone, Colorado; and also by his sister, Jackie Kellogg and her husband Phil, and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Visitation services will be held on Monday, July 26, at St. Bede’s Catholic Church from 5 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, July 27, at St. Bede’s Catholic Church at 10 a.m., with a military burial commencing immediately after at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home.
