A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Leak Memory Chapel at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. and graveside service to follow at Montgomery Memorial Cemetery with Rev. John R. Smith officiating.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie Fredrick Clark and Mary Belle Mitchell Clark; brother, Lonnie Frederick (Fred) Clark, Jr.; sister, Carolyn Clark Mount; and former husband Paul J. Chak. She is survived by her daughter and only child of both Paul and Jeannine, Andrea Jeannine Chak Bazzell (Tyson); 2 granddaughters, Daphne Christine (4) and Lilly Jeannine (2); numerous nieces and nephews and friends who were family to her. A special thank you to Janet Sexton for helping the family provide care for her.
She gained the nickname of “Nene” early on when her nephews and nieces could not say Jeannine. The nickname has remained a favorite among those close to her. She dedicated her life to helping others and loving without limits; a truly Christian way to live and love. She was selfless, kind, loving, and gentle. She was quite funny and sarcastic and always ready to have a fun time. She profoundly affected countless lives. Fond memories of her kindness are shared by all who knew and loved her. She spent her entire life taking care of others both physically and financially. She took care of her nieces and nephews and many years later opened her home to take care of other’s children as if they were her own. She spent her life caring and sacrificing for others and being a wonderful example of a servant of God. She was the most non-judgmental person who only saw the good in people and always tried to help those who couldn’t care for themselves. She never expected anything in return for helping others. She was quite intelligent and talented in many ways, and excelled at everything she ever tried, but would deny her capabilities. She was the hardest working woman, who could work circles around anyone, barely sleep, and do it all over again day in and day out. She was always willing to help anyone who called upon her, regardless of the time of day or night. She wanted to take care of everyone. She sacrificed so much of her life to care for others from the time she was 13 years old until a few years ago when her body could no longer keep up. She was like a mother to so many and the mom and friend that anyone could talk to about their problems.
She met her husband, Paul, when he was stationed at Gunter AFB. They wed and moved to his hometown of Pittsburgh, PA, where she lived for 30 years and raised their only child.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. After the birth of her granddaughters, they became her pride and joy. Her mother passed before Andrea was born, so for her to be a part of her granddaughter’s lives meant the world to her. She was able to live with her daughter and granddaughters the last 19 months of her life, where she could love and watch her granddaughters grow. Her granddaughters are her legacy. She brightened the lives and touched the hearts of so many. She was full of southern hospitality, generosity, and pure love.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.Leak-MC.com for the Chak family.
