Mrs. Jeanette Friday, age 90, of Montgomery, Alabama passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2024. Jeanette was born in Ft. Deposit, AL and was the youngest of nine children, five boys and four girls. Her father died shortly after she was born so she was raised by her very hardworking mother and her many older siblings served as mentors. The family lived working off the land farming and making do with what they had to raise a family. She married Walter J. Friday, July 31, 1955, and early in their marriage lived in Dallas, TX and Atlanta, GA later moving to Alabama near their family.
Jeanette worked as a bookkeeper in Montgomery, AL at Ben-Mar Paper Company for about fifteen years then at Tiller, Butner and Rosa Architectural Group until she retired. She also worked at Gayfers part-time in the evenings for many years while she was still working full-time at the Architectural Group. She was a hard-working lady as were all of her sisters who had a strong work ethic instilled in them by their parents. Her skills in bookkeeping were learned on the job as she did not have formal training or a college degree but many of the people she worked for said she had the skillset of a CPA! She was an excellent bookkeeper and served as the Hurley Sunday School Class secretary for many years at Eastern Hills Baptist Church where she and her family were members. She lived in Forest Hills neighborhood in Montgomery for many years with her husband and two sons.
She dearly loved her family, her husband and two sons. She wanted nothing more than to have children. She was close with her sisters all throughout their later years all living in and around Montgomery raising their families. They spent many good times together sharing holidays, trips, birthdays and family reunions.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband, Walter J. Friday; her parents, Crawford Tabor Mastin and Fannie Lee Singleton Mastin; her siblings, Buster Mastin, Joe Mastin, Marvin Mastin, Studley Mastin, Susie Mastin, Becky Mainor, Elizabeth Duncan and Lucy Buffalow.
She is survived by her sons, David Friday and Shane (Laurin) Friday and granddaughter, Taylor Friday.
