ROBERTS, Janie Ruth Martin died peacefully on May 3, 2017 in Montgomery. She was 93. Mrs. Roberts was born on August 28, 1923 in Bessemer, Alabama to Wesley Seaborne and Thera Kindol Martin. She spent most of her youth in Lowndesboro, Alabama. Mrs. Roberts graduated from Huntington College with post graduate degrees from Troy State University. She was a loving and caring wife to Max Roberts for 45 years. She was an educator and was the first principal at Dozier Elementary School. Mrs. Roberts was an active member at Frazer United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and helped with other organizations. She continued to be an active member of the "Angels." Mrs. Roberts is survived by her sons Max (Gayle) Redick and Joe (Charlene) Redick; daughter, Cathy (Mike) Maxey; step-son Tony (Dale)Cooper and step-daughter Tina Hart; grandchildren, John, Kris, Guinevere, Jake, Eve, Audrey, Jody, Sunny, Kindal, Michael, Katie, Tony, Ben, Jeff, Tom, Danielle, Charlie,their spouses and 27 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Wesley Seaborne and Thera Kindol Martin, her sisters Francis Martin and Olivia Martin Davis, and her husband Max Roberts, who died 10 days before her.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home on Sunday,
May 7,2017 at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be Saturday night May 6,2017 5:00-7:00 PM.
