James Benjamin Massey

James Benjamin Massey, Jr. died peacefully on August 2, 2023 at his home with his wife of 60 years, Mary Virginia Hall Massey, at his side. He was preceded in in death by his parents James Benjamin Massey, Sr. and Anna Marion Capell Massey.

He is survived by son Jim Massey, lll (Suzy), son John H. Massey, Sr. (Kelly). He was known as “Big Jimmy” to his grandchildren, Dr. Mary Elizabeth Massey Smith (Karter), of Huntsville, Alabama, Hall Massey, Jr. (Garrett), Nashville, Tennessee, Jimmy Massey,IV, Birmingham, Alabama, Lucy Massey Morgan (Garrett) of Rome, Georgia. Sister, Lucille Massey Dean, Spanish Fort, Alabama. Sister-in-law Helen Hall, Birmingham, Alabama.

Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Barranco, George Dennis, Tim Haigler, Jerry Kyser, Lewis Gayden, Walter McKee, George Mathews, Mike Miller, and Junie Pierce.

Funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church of Montgomery on Friday August 4, 2023 at 12:00 pm with Dr. Karl Stegall officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Stegall Fellowship Hall of the First United Methodist Church.
