KEITH, James Harold, MSGT, USAF-Ret., 76, of Montgomery, AL, entered his heavenly home on Saturday, February 8, 2014. He served his country as a computer programmer in the Air Force station at Maxwell-Gunter AFB until retiring in 1989. He was employed with Civil Service at Maxwell-Gunter AFB until retiring in 2000. Known as “The Shadowbox Man,” he occupied his time making beautiful military shadowboxes and other woodcrafts.
Jim was a 50-year member of the Coal City, WV Masonic Lodge and the Alcazar Shrine in Montgomery, AL. He graduated with a BS degree from Troy State University in 1989.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of fifty-two years, Jane Keith; adoring daughter, Beth Keith; loving son and daughter-in-law, Darin and Chintimini Keith; grandsons Declan and Eamon Keith; brother David Lee Keith of Helen, WV, sister Rosemary Whittaker of Sophia, WV, and faithful companion Belle. He was preceded in death by parents Goldie and Ross Keith.
Jim was a gentleman, loving provider, and a wonderful father. He was a ”people person” and never met a stranger. He was one of the good guys. His greatest joy was being “PawPaw” to Declan and Eamon.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 13, 2014, with Rev. Homer Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Alabama Heritage Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Hollis Andrews, Glenn Avant, Percy Green, Tom Philyaw, Joe Talbot, and Kevin Tomlin.
Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
