James Douglas Johnson, Sr., 91, of Reform/Montgomery, Alabama entered into his heavenly home Sunday, March 26. He was preceded in death by his parents James Horace Johnson and Opal (Macateer) Johnson. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Barbara (Beale) Johnson. His sister Bonnie F. Shirley. His children James D. Johnson, Jr. and Laura (Lottie) Dotson (Johnson). His six grandchildren Hannah Croy, Jenna Jones, Katie Johnson, Carly Jones, Evan Johnson, and Julia Dotson. His three great-grandchildren Peyton, Liam, and Eric.
JD, also known as “PawPaw,” was married to his sweetheart, Barbara, for 68 years. During that time he served in the United States Army (Armour) for 33 years, serving in the Vietnam and Korean Wars. He retired as Lieutenant Colonel and went to work for the Economy Forms Corporation; he worked as a Sales Engineer for twenty-years. He was an avid reader, golfer, and lover of Frank Sinatra and Patsy Cline. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Church of the Holy Comforter.
