James Manuel Jackson, 80, a faithful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ, was called peacefully to the Lord on Saturday, December 14, 2013 with family at his bedside. He is survived by Bonnie Jackson, his devoted and loving wife of 58 years. A loving son and daughter, Steven Jackson of Birmingham, AL and Diane Jackson of Montgomery, AL. grandson, Chaz Jackson and great-grandson, Cruz Jackson both of Ringgold, GA. Four sisters, Mabel Jackson and Polly Jackson of Richlands, VA, Sue Peregory and husband, David, of Richmond, VA and Jean Sparks and husband, Bubba, of Birmingham, AL. Sisters-in-law, Dottie Osborne and Debbie Grimsley of Richlands, VA. Brother-in-law, Ed Grimsley and wife, Carol, of Edgewater, MD. many nephews, nieces and dear friends. He was preceded in death by parents, John Kelly and Mary (Blevins) Jackson; 2 brothers, Robert Jackson and John Jackson; and sister Evelyn Maynard.
A retired veteran of 20 years’ service, USAF (MSgt); resided in Montgomery, AL. He was born and raised in Richlands, VA. The 40+ years prior to his homecoming was seeking and sharing the Living Word of God. He served as minister of The Jesus Assembly, Montgomery, AL for many years.
The family will receive friends at Leak-Memory Chapel, Tuesday, December 17 from 12:00 pm
and celebration service at 2:00 pm with Pastor Yancy Green and Pastor Joe Maynard officiating.
Burial Service will be at Alabama National Cemetery, Montevallo, Al., Thursday, December 19 at 2:00 pm. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
