Jackie grew up in Loveland, Ohio and met her future husband Jim Maloy in Cincinnati, where they were married. They spent many years in New Jersey, where Jackie began her entertaining career, singing and playing guitar with other musicians. She also owned and operated a Stretch & Sew Franchise for many years. Jackie and Jim’s first child, Ian, was born in New Jersey in 1983.
Jackie and her family moved to Montgomery, Alabama where she had her second child, Justin, in 1985. She loved and cherished both of her boys. Being a mom to Ian and Justin was one of the most rewarding roles of Jackie’s life. While in Montgomery, her husband, Dr. Jim Maloy was a partner in Drug Research for many years until his death in 2007.
Being a natural entrepreneur, Jackie started many small businesses in Montgomery, including interior decorating, gift baskets and building renovations, just to name a few. Her other passion was working in the Montessori Education community, which she did for many years at Montessori Academy alongside her sister Astri Tadlock, who provided much inspiration.
Astri and Jackie shared a dream to start their own Montessori Preschool and eventually that dream was realized. Unfortunately, Astri became sick, but Jackie along with her partner Terri Jackson, launched Montessori @ Mulberry in 2010. Jackie was a determined business owner who proved you can dream new dreams at any age. She gave her blood, sweat and tears to building the school…from renovations to gardens, she loved projects and Montessori @ Mulberry was her favorite!
During the building of Montessori @ Mulberry Jackie found love again with Jim Watson in 2011. She never expected to have the joy she received in their short time together. They were married in Jackie’s Garden, the place Jackie loved most.
Jackie is survived by her husband Jim Watson, son Ian Maloy, mother Nancy Bush, sister Lucy (Danny) Pannozzo, brother Scott Bush, stepsons James (Christina) and Jason (DeAnne) Watson, eight grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Dr. Jim Maloy, son Justin Maloy, and sister Astri Tadlock.
