Herman moved to Montgomery from Interlachen, Florida in August 2018. He was a Korean War veteran and served in the U.S. Navy for 5 ½ years. He served in law enforcement for over 30 years before finally retiring as a probation parole supervisor. After his retirement, he spent his time as a chaplain and lay witness minister for over 30 years. He had a passion for ministry and was a strong Christian. He spent his time preaching and fishing. He was a dedicated member of Grace Presbyterian Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Evie Williams; his brother, Ernest Williams; his sisters, Jessie Lou Johnston, Edna Crowder, and Daisy Dearth; and his loving wife of 62 years, Mattie Margaret Talton Williams.
He is survived by his daughters, Rene Price of Montgomery, Alabama and Diane Best of Atlanta, Georgia; his grandchild, Hollie Lee (Craig) of Opelika, Alabama; and his great-grandchild, Hollis Lee of Opelika, Alabama.
A visitation for Herman will be held Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL 36109. A chapel service will follow at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Herman’s memory to the Florida and Alabama Sheriff’s Ranches.
