WHITAKER, Henry Melvin, 87, a long-time Montgomery resident, died Thursday, October 22, 2015. He was preceded in death by his wife and soul-mate of 54 years, Edna Ruth Whitaker, on October 3, 2004. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2015, at 12:30 PM at Leak Memory Chapel, followed by his Life Celebration Service at 1:30 PM. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Mr. Whitaker was a veteran of both Korean and Viet Nam Wars; had retired from the Air Force on December 1, 1968, and later from the United States Civil Service on January 1, 1991. Survivors include three sons, Gary M. Whitaker (Katrina), J. Mark Whitaker (Bonnie), and Steven W. Whitaker (Kim); grandsons, Kody Whitaker (Megan), Kody Salzburn (Vira), Graham Whitaker; granddaughter, Whitney Whitaker McNeil (Justin); and a sister, Rose Sewell. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Kody Whitaker, Kody Salzburn, Graham Whitaker, Gerald Travis, Buddy Wood, and Larry Jones. Honorary Pallbearers will be the male members of the Victory Sunday School Class at Heritage Baptist Church. Special thanks to the Staffs of Answered Prayer, Charlton Place, and Amedysis Hospice, and Dr. R. Mukkamala.
