Helen Rosen Bern, age 90, resident of Montgomery, AL passed away on Saturday January 27th 2024. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, 3:00 pm at Greenwood Cemetery with Rabbi Scott Kramer officiating. Helen Bern was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Irving Bern. She is survived by her children, Dr. Jeffery (Carolyn) Bern, Shelley (Richard) Diamond, grandchildren, Aaron (Jessica) Bern, Anna Bern, Spencer (Laura) Diamond, Jill Diamond Candiotti, great-grandchildren, Ethan and Jackson Bern, Hayley and Max Diamond, and Asher Candiotti. Helen Bern was born in Memphis, TN in August 30, 1933. She attended the University of Alabama and was a member of SDT Sorority, and majored in Speech and Drama. She and Irving were married in Memphis, TN in 1954 and settled in Montgomery, AL. She was a long standing member of Agudath Israel Synagogue as well as a past President of Sisterhood. She was the host of WCOV’s morning TV show and hosted her own live radio talk show. She became VP of Public Relations for Troy State Montgomery and decided to also finish her degree through Troy State’s night program. She coined the phrase during her Troy State PR campaign, encouraging adults to complete their degrees, with, “It’s the adult thing to do”. She was responsible for raising funds, and overseeing restoration of the old downtown Paramount Theater, into the Davis Theater of the Performing Arts.
