Mrs. Harlan K. Ratliff, born November 10, 1938 and a life-long resident of Montgomery, went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 3, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Simon Monroe and Lennie Raiborn Kimbro; her brother, Tony Marshall Kimbro and nephew, Jeffrey Monroe Kimbro.
She is survived by her loving husband, Bill, with who she shared 67 years of marriage; a daughter, Terri Michele Ratliff Taylor and her husband, Michael; a son, Tommy Mizell Ratliff and his wife, Barbara; a nephew, Brian Kimbro; a sister-in-law, Pam Kimbro; and several cousins.
Harlan was blessed to be "Grandmama" to seven grandchildren: (Twins) Sarah Kate Taylor Moore (Dustin) and Kristian Taylor (Rachel), (Twins) Anna Beth Taylor and Amanda Taylor Cox (James), Sydney Taylor, Trevor Ratliff (Miranda), and Travis Ratliff (Jordan); and three great grandchildren: Dawson, Denver, and Adalynn Moore.
Her devotion to her family is beyond measurement and her memory will be forever cherished.
Harlan was a graduate of Sidney Lanier High School, class of 1956. She retired from the Air University Library, Maxwell AFB, AL in 2002 after a career of 29 1/2 years with the Federal Government. She also worked 10 years as a kindergarten teacher. She enjoyed traveling and vacationing with her family and Sunday dinners at "Grandmama's" house for over 30 + years. She was very proud when they were chosen as one of the "Families of the Year" in 1994 by the Family Guidance Center. She kept records of the Ratliff-Kimbro genealogy and memorabilia books for each child, grandchild and great-grandchild.
A Family and Friends Visitation for Harlan will be held Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Rd, Montgomery, Alabama 36109, followed by a Celebration of Life Chapel Service at 2:00 PM with Tommy Fike officiating. Services will conclude with a burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Harlan's memory may be made to Dalraida Baptist Church, Montgomery, Alabama or to a charity of your choice.
